1-on-1 Application Essay Help with Mr. Chris Lorenc

Tuition: $90 per hour

Conducted on Zoom.

Number of sessions will vary according to student’s needs.

In terms of writing application essays for private Catholic high schools, there are several crucial steps.

Mr. Chris Lorenc will help students to:

(1) comprehend the Catholic mission statements and educational philosophies of each school. This doesn’t mean one has to be a Catholic. But it does mean that one needs to understand these foundational values—and be able to relate to them in one’s own way.

(2) understand the essay questions themselves—and what they’re really asking.

(3) identify the examples and stories in one’s own life that best respond to the questions.

(4) compose those responses into clear, engaging essays that are grammatically and stylistically sound and clear.

Mr. Chris Lorenc has been involved in Catholic college prep education all his life—including by teaching every level of college prep English for 30 years at Bellarmine College Prep in San José, California. And now, after retiring from full-time teaching, he tutors students in learning how “to write well for a lifetime.” In addition to his regular, ongoing students, each fall he coaches students towards writing their best possible essays for high school applications.
