What is Tested on the HSPT®

The HSPT®, or High School Placement Test®, is a 298-question, multiple-choice exam consisting of 5 separate subtests:


  1. Verbal (60 problems/18 minutes)
  2. Quantitative (52 Problems/30 minutes)
    Break – 5 minutes (time may vary)
  3. Reading (62 Problems/25 minutes)
  4. Mathematics (64 Problems/45 minutes)
    Break – 2 to 5 minutes (time may vary)
  5. Language (60 Problems/25 minutes)
